Trashy Diva Lilac Atomic Bomb-Diggity

21 Jul

You may still be recovering from the last amazing print release from Trashy Diva, but hold onto your stylish 50s inspired hats because the newest one is to die for.

Inspired by the atomic era of the 1950s where anything seemed possible and dreams of flying cars began we get this beautiful nostalgic and abstract print.

HAIRTIElilacatomic-webI went nuts for this one instantly, so naturally I ordered multiple styles (ha!).  It was a hard choice but I went with the Debbie dress, Trixie Top, and circle skirt , oh and I can’t forget the cutest hair tie ever.  Seriously, I don’t know how I am just now trying these.  Perfect accessory to make a bad hair day look good.

So, favorite first: Debbie is my new best friend.  I want all the dresses in this cut.  I was initially really worried about the cute ruffled bust not covering anything.  It is super boob friendly.  I fit into the cups and they covered enough not to make me feel obscene but instead like an atomic super vixen.

I ordered my normal size 10 and it is perfect! The straps on this lady are not adjustable so there may be a little tweaking needed if you have narrow shoulders.

I ordered one size up in the Circle skirt as recommended by a friend, boy I am glad I did!  I sized up to a 12 and I have to say it was TIGHT.  The waistband is not stretchy on this one so definitely order based on your exact measurements.

In the Trixie top, I ordered a medium because it has super stretchy sides.  I found this to be too tight across the bust (I measure 40″ for reference), I do think the large would be more comfortable for me.IMG_4391

The print is so beautiful.  The design features aqua, coral, grey and red against the lilac background. As with all Trashy Diva designs, this is a limited edition, so if you like it go grab it before it’s gone!

Oh, and those amazing shoes? Those are the glorious Miss L Fire Nancys (also comes in black and white.) There are a few sizes left at the website, and they are on sale!!!  They live happily amongst the most comfortable shoes I own

Trashy Diva: Fangirling for Red Fans

14 Jul

So before I jump into my uber love for Trashy Diva, you may be asking yourself “who is this?  Is this a REAL blogpost?” The answers are, it’s me! And Yes! I know I have been seriously slacking on the blog front (helloooo my last post was in 2015!) but y’all keep clicking and coming by and I appreciate you so much.  Seriously. Ok enough about me, let’s move on to TRASHY MUTHA FUCKIN’ DIVA.

If you follow me on Instagram you know I am borderline obsessed with Trashy Diva clothing.  And if you don’t follow me, do it (@ditadoll). I am not just obsessed because everything they make is magic (it is) or because I love that every new collection is limited (it is). I adore them because they are so well designed and so well made.  They actually fit a variety of silhouettes and always in a flattering way.  Don’t believe me? Hop on over to Facebook and check out our I’m a Trashy Diva page to see pretty babes being babely.

Their latest print release, based off of a vintage pattern discovered by the lovely and talented Candice Gwinn, feels like it was made for me.  Favorite color red? Check. Asian themed print? Check. Pockets? Check. FANS? Check. You can check out the full release of Red Fans here.

I decided to go with the Anne cut. I have long been a fan of her big sister, Annette, which has a more gathered, full skirt and a slightly shorter length, so I had to meet her little sophisticated sister, Anne.  I ordered my regular size 10 in Trashy Diva and it was perfect.  I currently measure 40″ bust 30″ waist.  It is made of a lightweight stretch cotton for comfort. And as I squealed about before, it has pockets.  I wore this all day without a purse, and let’s be honest, without a bra.  I feel like the Anne gives really good support due to the adjustable straps.

I paired it with the beautiful wooden fan Trashy Diva sent out with my purchase (thank you!), the stunning Rosita Bonita Chinese Lantern necklace which is reversible, and my very favorite shoes, my Lucky Lou Shoes Rockin’ Tikis (comfortable and gorgeous!)

As of yesterday, because I love this print so much, I also preordered the Virginia Shirtwaist Dress. This one is set to release on 7/30 and you can bet that when I get it, I’ll be plastering it’s gloriousness all over Instagram.

I am happy to answer any sizing questions, questions about life and love or whatever. Spam me with your Red Fans pics on Facebook at Chanel’s Sick and Pretty Parlour, request to join the hive on I’m a Trashy Diva or tag me on Instagram @ditadoll.

Heartbreaker is Killing Me!

27 Oct

So, I admit I am pretty loyal to Pinupgirl Clothing when it comes to buying new dresses.  And I still love them so very much, but this season Heartbreaker may be winning over my heart.  Their Fall and Winter lines are beautiful.  They feature such lush fabrics with peacocks, florals and metallic prints.  I only have one Heartbreaker dress in my vast collection of dresses (the diner dress) but have a feeling that over the next few months, I will have several.  Take a look at some of my favorites from the this-could-be-vintage collection here and start making your list! And this is just a small sampling of my favorites.  These glorious fabrics are also featured on skirts as well as various dress cuts.  YUM…

Be Still My Heart Of Darkness: Kreepsville 666 Elvira Tunic & Vampira Sunglasses

14 Feb

elvira-bannerI’ve always had a little darkness in my heart.  And I’ve always been a sucker for dark hair, pale skin and cleavage.  So it makes perfect sense that my beauty heroes include Elvira, Vampira, Morticia, and Lily.  Although, if we are getting technical, I believe Lily Munster was actually green.  Still, all of these women invoked a dark sensuality.  An ownership of their own glamour, not succumbing to what should be considered pretty.  They were sexy because they were different, and they gave little gothy hearted girls like me something to look up to and something to look forward to.

elvira-frontThe Kreepsville 666 Elvira Cobweb tunic dress drew me in right away.  With Elvira sprawled across a spiderweb, in simple black and white, my little black heart skipped a beat.  It is made of a soft cotton t-shirt material, very light weight with plenty of stretch.  It has a low scooped neckline so it can be worn on or off the shoulder.  You can definitely wear it as a mini dress with some tights if you’re feeling super vampy and daring.  I paired it with some leggings for a more modest look.  The greatness lies in the comfort.  I feel like I am wearing a t-shirt, but in fact look like I actually put myself together.  The back has some pretty large text that reads “Elvira, Mistress of the Dark.”  I was at first a bit concerned about this, but I like it in person, it adds a fun sort of punk rock edge to the tunic.

I got mine at Sourpuss.

elvira-glassesThen there is Vampira, the most mysterious lady of them all.  Even if these sunglasses weren’t a take on the original ones designed specifically for Vampira, I would still have drooled for them because, well, they are amazing.  I scored these from a limited run via the official Vampira page on Facebook.  I see them pop up every now and again on the page so all hope is not lost.  I missed out on the edition twice before I was able to actually score a pair.  You can stay tuned here for more information on Vampira and these badass glasses.

Now, I know there was a little rivalry between the Mistress of the Dark and The Original Glamour Ghoul which you can read about herebut I still love them both, so I have no problem wearing a little Elvira and Vampira mixed together.

Golden Girl Monica: My Newest Pinup Girl Clothing Obsession

29 Nov

The new Monica dress may be the most perfect dress ever created.  This dress sold out completely in red in it’s first week, with most sizes in the black and gold selling out just as quickly.  The good news? There will be more Monica.  So onto the good stuff.

I ordered the gold.  I’ve been lusting after a great gold metallic dress for a long time.  I’ve come across vintage styles that never seem to be in my size.  Then I saw it in the coming-soon pages of Pinupgirlclothing.com.  This dress is glorious.

Putting it on is like a religious experience.  I found my goddess and her name is Monica.  The gold fabric has a dark sort of antique tone to it.  It is made from a lurex jersey with the perfect amount of subtle sparkle.  The structure fits like a custom dress.  And it’s not just my own ego, every girl I have seen this dress on looks like a million bucks.

The secret is the built in shaper.  It holds you in without being constricting and creates a smoothe foundation so that you aren’t “lumpy” underneath the fabric.  The draping is so flattering, it nips in your waist and creates a long sexy silhouette falling below the knee.  It is the ultimate Hollywood glamour dress.  I don’t mean to be so wordy, but words cannot quite express the magic of the dress.

It falls slightly off the shoulder.  You can wear a strapless bra, or a bra with straps pulled down around your shoulders, but I find that because of the built in shaper, you don’t need a bra with this one.  It holds you in and pushes you up for a delicious décolletage.  The sizing is very true to the chart, so look carefully.  If you’re in between sizes, go up.  The dress has a hidden zipper which will easily break if there is too much pull.  I found I was able to get in and out of the dress, albeit very carefully, without even unzipping it.

It is a stunner.  See for yourself.  The photos are just me in the dress, no extra shapewear.  Just pure magic.  For reference, I ordered the Medium.  Don’t miss out on your chance to get the Monica when she is restocked.  I wore this dress on a recent Vegas trip, and plan to wear it to a holiday party and definitely on New Years Eve.  It is great quality and will last for years to come.

What are you waiting for?  Go be a golden goddess (or red or black) and get it here.

Super Vamp: How to Become a Deadly Dame with Pinup Girl Clothing

15 Nov

I adore Pinup Girl Clothing, including all of their house brands: Deadly Dames, Pinup Couture, Laura Byrnes, Dixiefried, an Any-Other-Thing-They-Make. Because I have big hips, a big ass, and some thighs, I have found it easier to wear swing-style dresses. Most of us girls know that finding a great swing dress is far easier than finding a great wiggle dress.  With swing styles, as long as you can zip it up, it fits.  With wiggle dresses, things get much more complicated in the hip/junk/thigh area.

It was always hard for me to a) feel comfortable and/or sexy rocking a wiggle dress and b) to fit aforementioned body parts into a wiggle dress. But, after reading reviews and drooling over the pictures on the Pinup Girl Clothing website, I took the plunge and bought my first Deadly Dames Vamp dress.

The Vamp comes in a variety of fabulous prints and solid colors, including polka dot, black, baby blue, the-coming-soon 50’s leopard print, and, my favorite, zebra print.  No matter which colorway you get, or what size you are, this dress is amazing.

It has a punkrock edge to it, while keeping a classic 50’s/early 60’s wiggle silhouette.  It is made of a cotton sateen that is both comfortable and  forgiving, while also hugging your curves, which is a rare combination.  As soon as I put this dress on, I felt transformed into a sex goddess (or what I imagine a sex goddess feels like).

Let’s start from the top. The Vamp has adjustable straps that will accomodate a variety of bust sizes.  The cups are molded and lightly padded for shape.  I didn’t need a bra with this dress, but because of the wide straps you can definitely get away with a balconet style bra (perhaps even a lacy red number with the strap peeking out). Again, you don’t really need one with this dress, as it sort of works as a push up bra all on it’s own. (I couldn’t stop staring at my tits in this baby!)

Working our way down from the awesome ta-ta framing, the Vamp has a seam at the high point of the waist, which creates a whittled waistline; this is ideal, as opposed to wearing a dress that you simply pull over, making your waist look wider than it is. This is a problem with a lot of lesser quality designers; if you’re like me and have a 10 inch differential between your waist and hips, the last thing you want is for your waist to look as wide as your hips. This perfectly placed seam prevents that and creates an hourglass shape even if you don’t have one. From here the Vamp hugs your hips and smooths down your thighs into a yummy slit up the back, allowing for some wiggle room in this wiggle dress.

So, the Deadly Dames Vamp dress is comfortable, looks amazing, and comes in all sorts of fun colors and patterns. What makes this dress really worth it is seeing yourself in it and transforming into that moviestar vixen we all have inside of us. If you think yours isn’t there, slip on a Deadly Dames Vamp dress, put on some lipstick, add heels and make ’em weep.

WARNING: People will stare, so be prepared for the extra attention. Of course, every vamp knows that adoration is just a part of being a vixen. The Deadly Dames Vamp dress inspires confidence and, best of all, it makes being sexy fun. You don’t have to be uncomfortable and hold your breath all night to be a vamp, you just need this dress.

The Deadly Dames Vamp dress retails for $110 and you can buy it here.
